Dealing a blow to the embattled Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party AAP, the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise scam. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma in his verdict said that Kejriwal’s arrest was not in contravention of legal provisions and so the remand could not be held to be illegal.

Notably, Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 following the high court’s refusal to grant him protection from alleged coercive action by the federal anti-money laundering agency.
