Considering the recent rise in the land fraud cases, the Dehradun district administration will soon set up a separate control room to take cognisance of such complaints. The district magistrate Sonika said on Monday that she gets complaints related to land frauds and land disputes regularly in weekly public hearings and most of the time, the complainants do not know what points should be considered before purchasing a land or what to do if they become a victim of scam.
Considering all such points, she said, the administration is planning to set up a separate control room which will tackle such issues of locals. “We will also release a toll free number in which anybody can call regarding their grievances related to land frauds. They can register a complaint and the officials concerned will take cognisance of the matter. Besides this, the administration will also provide necessary information to those interested in getting crucial information before buying any land. It will also provide information on how to proceed if they become victims of a land fraud,” said the DM.
She said that the administration is also working on making a checklist of such points for the public which must be considered before the purchase of any land. She said that the administration will also start raising awareness across the district to educate people about following proper procedure of land purchasing and how to proceed if they get scammed.
