CS reviews Haridwar, Sharda Corridor projects & Rishikesh master plan

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan presided over a meeting regarding Haridwar corridor, Rishikesh master plan and Sharda corridor projects at the State secretariat on Wednesday. In the meeting the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) gave a detailed presentation on these projects.
The CS said that priority should be set for all projects under the Haridwar corridor. He said that Haridwar and its religious importance is linked to the faith of people not only in India but also abroad. He said that special care should be taken in the development works of the Haridwar corridor so that there is no tampering with the areas related to faith and their original form.
Bardhan said that a comprehensive plan including budget, implementing agency and its maintenance should be submitted soon on all the projects under Haridwar corridor.
In the meeting the CS also directed the officers to prioritize the works of Sharda river front development. He said that along with the development of the tourism circuit, provisions for helipad and heliport should be made in the plan keeping in mind the connectivity of the area.
While discussing the Rishikesh master plan, the CS directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive mobility plan for Rishikesh and the proposed works around the old railway station. He said that a hydrology survey should be conducted for the revival of the Chandrabhaga River.
Principal secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, secretary Nitesh Kumar Jha, Sachin Kurve, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, V Shanmugam and chief conservator of Forests PK Patro and others attended the meeting.
