Cong opens box full of pre poll promises in manifesto

Promises subsidised LPG cylinder, 5 lakh jobs, Lokayukta, old pension scheme, free electricity to people

In its election manifesto the Congress party has promised to provide employment to four lakh youngsters and assured that the price of the cooking gas cylinder would not exceed Rs 500 if its government is formed in the state. The party has also claimed to provide an economic assistance of Rs 40,000 per year to five lakh families of the state and said that doorstep delivery of the quality health services would be the priority of the Congress government. The manifesto claimed that its government would provide 200 units of electricity free and this would be progressively increased. The Party promised to set up the institution of Lokayukta and said that its government would remove the ban on recruitment in government jobs. In an attempt to woo the government employees it claimed that it will find ways to implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The Congress manifesto claims to provide grade pay of Rs 4,600 to the police personnel and set up the first Sports University in the state. The media in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Rajeev Mehrishi said that a journalist welfare Board would be constituted for social security of journalists and a new policy for the benefit of small and medium newspapers. The Congress promised that a system of block cadre would be implemented for the guest teachers.
