Covid positive CM continues official works virtually while in isolation

A day after he tested positive for Covid-19, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat continued to discharge his official works virtually while in isolation here on Tuesday. His attempt is to ensure that the progress of development works is not affected by him being infected.

On the occasion of world meteorological day, Rawat virtually participated in a meeting organised by the disaster management authority. He directed that work on the weather warning related schemes of the central government should be expedited. In another virtual meeting held to review the pending cases of forest land transfer, the CM directed that such cases should be reviewed regularly.

Since testing positive for Covid on Monday, Rawat has isolated himself at the Bijapur safe house since Monday on the advice of doctors. On Monday evening the CM held a virtual meeting with officials and issued necessary directions. On Tuesday too, he held virtual meetings with officials. According to the CM, it is vital to observe precautions when infected but if possible one should continue discharging responsibilities even while in isolation. Speaking virtually in the meet held on world meteorological day, Rawat said that considering Uttarakhand’s vulnerability to natural disasters, an early warning system should be established in the state. The central schemes in this regard should be completed soon, he said. The disaster management minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the state is working swiftly to enable a system for timely warning to the public. A Doppler radar is already operating at Mukteshwar and soon similar radars will start operating at Surkanda near Mussoorie and at Lansdowne, he said.

Reviewing the pending cases of forest land transfers, the CM said that there shouldn’t be unnecessary delay in such cases. He directed all the district magistrates to prepare land banks soon. All the DMs should hold regular meetings for resolving forest land transfer cases pending at the district level, he said.
