Covid-19 cases increasing alarmingly in U’khand

88 new cases reported; Active cases count surges past 300

The increase in the number of new cases of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) has taken an alarming turn in Uttarakhand. The state health department reported 88 new cases of the disease on Friday which is the highest daily case number in the last six months.  The department had reported 89 cases of the disease on July 6. The active case count in the state has also surged past 300 mark in the state on the eve of the new year.  Death of one patient was also reported in Himalayan hospital on the day which increased the death toll to 7,418 in the state. 

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,45,087 while a total of 3,31,150  patients have recovered from the disease so far. The recovery percentage from the disease is at 96.96 per cent while the sample positivity rate on Friday was 0.65 per cent.

 The state health department reported 48 new patients from Dehradun, 11 from Udham Singh Nagar, nine from Haridwar, eight from Nainital, five from Almora, three from Pauri, two from Champawat and one each from Bageshwar and Chamoli districts on Friday. No new cases were found in the remaining four districts on the day. 

 The state now has 302 active cases of Covid-19. Dehradun with 135 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital has 70 active cases of the disease. Rudraprayag has no active cases of the disease now.  In the ongoing vaccination drive, 45,205 people were vaccinated in 955 sessions in the state held on Friday.
