The officials must expedite departmental paperwork and lay special focus on inter-departmental coordination for execution of the development works launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Pithoragarh earlier this month. Additional chief secretary Radha Raturi issued this direction while chairing a meeting to review the progress of the works inaugurated and dedicated to the public by the PM on October 12.

She said that the execution of these works is also being monitored regularly by the Prime Minister’s office.

During his recent visit, the PM had laid the foundation stones for and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth about Rs 4,200 crore in sectors including rural development, road, power, irrigation, drinking water, horticulture, education, health and disaster management, among others. Raturi stressed that the departments must complete the paperwork as early as possible. Expressing dissatisfaction at not receiving the minutes regarding the schemes from the departments on time, she said that the departmental procedures should be completed within the deadline to expedite the execution of the schemes. The officials should also lay special focus on inter-departmental coordination, she said. The ACS also said that the PMO is regularly monitoring the progress of the works inaugurated by and dedicated to the public by the PM during his Pithoragarh visit. Further, the Vibrant Village programme being undertaken for the development of 51 border villages is being monitored directly by the Union Home secretary. A review meeting is being held on a weekly basis regarding this programme, she said. All departments of the State government will have to work in mission mode to strengthen the economy, livelihood, social structure, basic infrastructure, education, power supply and telecommunication facilities in the selected villages to ensure the integrated development of the villages, the ACS stressed.

On the subject of encouraging Char Dham Yatra pilgrims and tourists to also visit Manaskhand temples and Adi Kailash, Raturi directed the Public Works Department to work on strengthening the connectivity of Garhwal and Kumaon regions. She directed the PWD to cooperate in execution of Central Government schemes for development of border regions, expedite the efforts being undertaken by the State government for these regions and submission of proposals to the Centre for construction of roads and bridges in the border regions. She directed the Tourism department to focus on a work plan for better facilities and improved connectivity to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat. Department officials informed that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police for this purpose. The Rural Development department was directed to work on effective implementation of the CM migration mitigation scheme for encouraging reverse migration by improving roads, power and water supply, education, health facilities and encouraging local employment. The Sports department was directed to facilitate awards and better arrangements for sportspersons who participate in the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and other international sports competitions.
