The additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) AP Anshuman directed the superintendent of police of Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi to allow the movement of the pilgrims towards Char Dham shrines as per the prescribed capacity. He conducted a video conference with all district officials of the police in the Garhwal region to ensure the proper movement of the huge crowd of pilgrims and associated traffic during Char Dham Yatra. He directed the SPs of Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi to make suitable arrangements for the pilgrims who will not be allowed to move further after the shrines reach the prescribed capacity.  They should be stopped at the designated places from where they can seek an easy stay till they resume their journey. He emphasised that the police need to be more cautious regarding the movement of pilgrims in Uttarkashi. He also directed the SP to appoint a deputy superintendent of police to facilitate the arrangements from the barrier built for Yamunotri Dham to the Bottleneck to ensure the smooth operation of traffic. The SPs of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag will keep the inspector general of police of the Garhwal region KS Nagnyal and other higher officials updated about the situation in Dhams and the Yatra routes. The police with the help of the department’s concerned should make adequate arrangements for food, drinking water and essential commodities at the places where the pilgrims are stopped. They should also be given regular updates about the respective Char Dham shrine. The police must use drones as much as possible for traffic management on Char Dham routes and their feed should be connected to the respective district control room. The feed should be analysed regularly and the personnel engaged in traffic duty should be briefed about it. It will help in traffic management and maintaining law and order. The police should also coordinate with the department concerned in landslide prone areas besides staying in regular contact with the police in-charges of the border districts to ensure the police can send information to the passengers on the travel route regarding any disaster or accident, the ADG added.
