An audio clip in which a leader who purportedly is a senior cabinet minister of Uttarakhand is heard engaging in an intimate conversation with a woman has embarrassed the ruling BJP and given the Congress party a tool just before the polling in the assembly election. In the audio the leader is saying that he will recommend her for a job and is heard seeking a favour from the woman.
The national spokesman of Congress party Gaurav Vallabh said that the language used in the audio that has gone viral is so vulgar that one cannot listen to it. He said that everyone in Uttarakhand knows who this person is. “This old man who plays the role of Ravan in Ramlilas is a cabinet minister and was the head of state unit of BJP. This exposes the real character of the BJP,’’ he said
Vallabh added that when in power the Congress party would get the audio investigated and send the culprit to jail.
Talking about another video that has gone viral shows that the dates past expiry date were distributed by the Women Empowerment and Child Development department to pregnant women, he said that these dates can cause infection in pregnant women.
The national spokesperson of Congress Shama Mohammad said that the BJP provides protection to the rapists and those committing crime against the women. She said that the NCR report of Himalayan states show that the Uttarakhand is at the top of the list of rapes followed by Himachal Pradesh and Tripura. She added that BJP is in power in all these states. Mohammad said that Uttarakhand again is on number one position in the cases registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences ( POCSO) Act while BJP ruled Meghalaya and Tripura are on second and third positions respectively.
Launching an attack on the BJP for crime against women she said that BJP MLA Suresh Rathore is charged of sexually abusing a party worker while another MLA Mahesh Negi has been accused by a woman of sexual abuse.
This woman is claiming that Negi is the father of her child but the BJP MLA is not prepared to get the DNA test done in the case. She said that it was the Congress party which included death penalty for the rapists after the Nirbhaya case.
