The Uttarakhand state Congress leaders and activists staged protests against the party’s former president Rahul Gandhi being given a two-year jail term in a defamation case. The senior Congress leader and former chief minister Harish Rawat and the former state Congress president Pritam Singh participated in the protest prorammes along with others. They were later arrested. It is pertinent to mention here that Rahul Gandhi has been given two years’ jail regarding a defamation case involving the surname ‘Modi’. However, he has been given bail. He was present at Surat court when the sentence was pronounced.
