Congress gearing up for March 10 verdict in U’khand

Central observers held deliberations with state leaders in Doon, strategies on different possibilities finalised.

Intense activity has started in the Uttarakhand Congress ahead of March 10 when the verdict of the people will be delivered. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has sent senior leaders Deepender Hooda and M B Patil as central observers to the state. They held deliberations with leaders of Uttarakhand Congress on Tuesday. These leaders held a series of meetings with the leaders of state which included the former chief minister and head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress Harish Rawat, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, the leader of opposition in assembly Pritam Singh, senior leader Yashpal Arya and others. The  in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav, co-in-charges Rajesh Dharmani, Dipika Pandey Singh and national convenor of IT cell, Saral Patel and others also took part in the deliberations. In the meetings the preparation of the party for the counting day was given final touches. The Congress leadership also discussed the party strategy in the event of a hung assembly. It is learnt that the discussions on the ways to protect the newly elected MLA from the poaching also figured prominently.
Exuding confidence Harish Rawat said that the people of Uttarakhand have voted for a change and Congress is forming the next government in the state. 

Informing about the meetings the PCC president Ganesh Godiyal said that the meetings are part of the normal process ahead of the counting day. He said that discussions on the postal ballot also took place in the meeting. Referring to the presence of national general secretary of BJP Kailash Vijayvargiya and speculations that the BJP is working on  a plan under him to effect defections, the PCC President said that the Congress leadership is very alert on the issue. He said that the party has assigned different tasks to different leaders on the counting day. He said that many news channels are predicting victory for the Congress party and he is confident that the party is coming to power with a big majority. “The BJP is said to be working on plan B now. The people of the state have given their blessings to the Congress party and it is our duty to work as per the mandate of the people and take necessary steps,’’ he said.
