In view of the arrival of tourists in New Year celebrations across the state, the Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has directed officials to adopt people-friendly policing while taking strict action against miscreants. He asked them to ensure only those tourists are allowed towards Mussoorie and Nainital who have legitimate hotel bookings.

The DGP also directed the officials to coordinate with one another to prepare a diversion plan on the weekend to control traffic. However, he added that they should focus on making traffic plans according to the convenience of tourists and local people. He directed them to work on providing additional parking spaces in tourist spots. He instructed them to divert the routes accordingly and make a one-way plan while keeping in mind to inform the public in advance in order to prevent any inconvenience to them. He said that if necessary, authorities should use mounted police, CPU and crane units for traffic arrangements. He asked the officials to take stringent action against traffic violations as well as against those creating nuisances in public places during new year’s celebrations.
