Several routes to remain diverted on August 15

Many routes will remain diverted in Dehradun on the occasion of Independence Day on Tuesday. The police informed that there will be a zero zone around the Parade Ground during the Independence Day programmes and entry of all vehicles, carts and hawkers will be banned in the area too. The VIPs and the officials concerned will enter the parade ground from gate number one opposite the Employment Office junction. Their vehicles will be parked in the sports ground behind the stage. The vehicles of those participating in the event including people from the army, paramilitary force, police and mediapersons among others will be parked in the Rangers Ground and IRDTA premises. The vehicles of the spectators arriving to watch the event from Survey Chowk, EC Road and Darshanlal Chowk will be parked at Mangala Devi Inter College and Rangers Ground respectively. According to the police, barriers will be installed at the routes on outer points- EC Road, Survey Chowk, Manoj Clinic, Buddha Chowk, Darshanlal Chowk, Orient Chowk and Pacific junction and vehicles of only VIPs and pass holders will be allowed to enter. The inner points- the employment office junction, Kanak Chowk, Doonga House, Lansdowne Chowk and Convent junction will also remain barricaded. The routes of Vikrams and city buses that operate on Rajpur, Dharampur, Raipur and ISBT routes will remain diverted too on Tuesday. The senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar has appealed to locals to use the alternate routes and ride two-wheeler vehicles to avoid any inconvenience on the said routes. He also appealed to the public to park their vehicles at the designated places. The traffic will resume normally around the Parade Ground after the programme ends.
