CM visits Uttarkashi, interacts with Covid patients in hospital & under home isolation

Rawat reviews Covid status and disaster preparedness for monsoons in district

Continuing with his tour of the districts, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat visited Uttarkashi on Saturday. Reaching the district hospital, he wore a PPE kit to meet the Covid-19 patients, enquire about their health and wish them a speedy recovery. He also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the doctors, nurses and other staff members in treating Covid patients in the hospital. Rawat then visited the Covid care centre where he checked the arrangements and interacted with the patients. He also inaugurated a 200 LPM oxygen plant at the district hospital on the occasion.

Later, the chief minister chaired a meeting to review the Covid-19 situationin the district and preparations for disaster scenarios in the coming monsoon season. He directed officials of the PWD, PMGSY and NH to ensure that they keep adequate resources to deal with disaster scenarios during the rains. Stating that majority of the roads are being constructed under PMGSY, he said that drains and other aspects should be constructed as per the standards in new rural roads being constructed with special focus on quality. Regarding the Jal Jeevan mission, he said that pipelines had been laid and stand posts had been established in the first stage. He directed officials of the Jal Sansthan and Peyjal Nigam to expedite work in the second stage for supplying water to villagers from the source. There is no shortage of funds for this, he added. Considering the shortage of linemen in the electricity department during disasters, he directed the district magistrate to deploy linemen through PRD for restoring power supply. The chief minister also directed the supply department officials to speed up distribution of foodgrains as part of the normal ration and also for the monsoon. Diesel and petrol stock for three to four months should be kept in advance.

Earlier, the district magistrate Mayur Dixit informed Rawat in detail about the steps taken in Uttarkashi to control the spread of Covid and treat the patients.

The chief minister also visited the Covid-19 war room in the district and sought information about the work being done by the personnel on different desks. Rawat also had telephonic interactions with patients under home isolation. He directed the officials to focus on raising awareness among the people in the rural areas to undergo sampling. He also saw the collectorate building constructed in the traditional style. The chief minister also flagged off an AYUSH Rath on the occasion.

State minister Yatishwaranand, district Panchayat head Deepak Bijalwan, Purola MLA Rajkumar and other public representatives along with officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
