The UMSSB has completed the selection process of the Medical Officers and has sent recommendation to the state administration for their appointment

The state health services of Uttarakhand would soon get 403 new medical officers. The Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board (UMSSB) has completed the selection process of the recently advertised posts of MO and has sent recommendation to the state administration to appoint 403 doctors in the state health services.

The UMSSB had advertised 763 posts for recruitment of MOs in the state health services last year. Incidentally the board could not find candidates of reserved categories in the recruitment drive. The board could not find reserved candidates for 359 posts in the drive. The board could find only 29 candidates out of 243 advertised posts of Scheduled Castes (SC), six out of 31 advertised for candidates of Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and 39 out of 146 of Other Backward Caste category.  The chairman of the UMSSB Dr D S Rawat told The Pioneer that out of 403 MOs selected 59 are specialists. He said that the board has carried forward 359 posts of reserved category and differently abled individuals for the next drive. Dr Rawat said that more than 1,300 eligible candidates had appeared in the selection process and about 100 applications were rejected due to lack of documents and not fulfilling eligibility criteria.

The selected MO would be inducted in the pay scale of 56,100- 1,77,500 (level 10) of state health services. It is pertinent to mention here that UMSSB had recruited more than 400 MOs for the state health services in the month of April last year.
