DGP reviews security preparations for G-20 Summit

The director general of police (DGP), Ashok Kumar on Wednesday reviewed the preparations of security arrangements ahead of the G-20 Summit which is scheduled to be held from May 24 to 28 in Rishikesh. He directed the officials to make a foolproof security plan and ensure its proper execution as per the schedule. He asked the officials concerned to discuss all major points with officials concerned of the central government before giving the final touch to the arrangements. 

He also directed them to deploy sufficient personnel of the state disaster response force (SDRF), water police and fire tenders at the Ghats in Rishikesh with all safety equipment in view of the Ganga Aarti programme to be held at Parmarth Niketan. He also instructed to appoint an extra police force on the routes for traffic management considering the possibility of a rise in traffic congestion during the Ganga Aarti. He said that police must make suitable arrangements to tackle any critical condition in the area. Kumar said that no laxity in security arrangements will be tolerated by the police department.

Senior police officials who are members of the G-20 Summit Secretariat were present in the meeting including additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) V Murugesan, additional director general of police (Intelligence and Security) AP Anshuman, Inspector General of Police, Garhwal Zone, Karan Singh Nagnyal along with the respective senior superintendent of police of Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts who attended the meeting virtually.
