CM inaugurates State’s first drone plant in Roorkee

Drone technology can be very important for a State like Uttarakhand

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the first drone manufacturing company of Uttarakhand in Roorkee on Friday. The Roter Precision Instrument Private Limited has set up the plant under Make in India policy. Congratulating the company, the CM said that the day is historical since the country’s biggest and State’s first modern drone plant has started functioning.

 He said that India is moving ahead on the path of becoming Vishwa Guru in the field of modern technology. The CM said that India has made rapid progress in drone technology and manufacturing of arms. He said that today India is exporting arms and defence equipment to many countries and is fast emerging as a world power. The CM said that both the state and the union governments are encouraging the youngsters and talented individuals without necessary resources under the Make in India, Start up India and Skill India schemes. He opined that since Uttarakhand is very complex and sensitive in view of its geographical conditions, the drone technology can be very effective in the state. Dhami invited suggestions from the experts for better use of drone technology for the benefit of the state. He assured that the state government would take cognizance of their view on all the issues related with interest of the state. Reiterating the pledge of his government, ‘commitment without alternative’, Dhami said that the objective of his government is to reach out to the person standing last on the social ladder.

The CM was informed in the programme that the Roorkee plant has a capacity to produce 150 survey drones and 50 advanced drones for the Indian Army every month. The plant would also have a training academy to train the pilots for safe and optimum use of drone and geo stationary data production.   The Roorkee MLA Pradeep Batra and representatives of Survey of India, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and other institutes were present on the occasion
