Announces opening of paragliding training centre in Nayar valley

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the first Nayar valley adventure festival and national paragliding accuracy competition at Bilkhet in Pauri district on Thursday. The CM also inaugurated the drinking water scheme for Kaljikhal block costing Rs 26.83 crore on the occasion. The scheme will benefit 59 revenue villages, 19 Gram Panchayats and 68 settlements.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that various events are being held as part of this festival from November 19 to 22. These include paragliding, 170 kilometres biking trail, running competition and angling competition. Citing a United Nations report, he said that in the tourism sector, adventure has the maximum potential with considerable scope for employment. Stating that there are ample opportunities for adventure sports in Uttarakhand, he said that state government is laying special focus on tourism, films, development of rural areas and health services. He also spoke about the theme based destinations being developed in each district.

Stating that the government has undertaken various initiatives for facilitating self-employment, he spoke of the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana launched by the state government. A total of 150 various works have been included under this scheme. Apart from this, interest free loan of upto Rs three lakh is being provided to farmers while women self help groups are being provided interest free loan of upto Rs five lakh. The district magistrates will inform the public down to the block level in order to ensure that all benefit from the government’s public welfare schemes. Rawat further said that 65 per cent of the complaints being received through the CM helpline number 1905 are being resolved. In order to keep the citizens informed about details of the CM dashboard, it will be made public from next month, added Rawat. The CM also spoke about the government’s works and plans for women development, agriculture and developmental initiatives in the state.

Agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal, State minister for Higher Education, Dhan Singh Rawat, MP Teerath Singh Rawat, MLA Mukesh Koli, other public representatives and officials were also present on the occasion.
