Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has promised a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) if the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) comes into power again in Uttarakhand. He made the announcement at a press conference in Khatima. Dhami has promised to form a committee to prepare a draft of the UCC after the government is formed. The committee will comprise legal experts, stakeholders, retired people, and distinguished people from society. Under the UCC, there will be the same laws for issues related to marriage, divorce, land and property, and succession for people of all religions.
