Students stranded in violence hit Manipur return home

Seventeen natives of Uttarakhand, stranded in violence affected Manipur returned home on Wednesday. The group includes 14 students, one teacher and his two family members. A sense of relief was clearly visible on their faces after the Indigo airlines flight landed in Dehradun airport, Jollygrant on Wednesday evening. The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Dehradun Shailendra Singh Negi welcomed the returnees at the airport. As per the information available, 10 persons are from National Sports University, four are students of NIT and one faculty member and his family. The returnees belong to Bageshwar, Almora, Haldwani and Kashipur. The district administration has made arrangements for their return to homes from Dehradun. 

Expressing gratitude to the State government, the returnees thanked chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for their safe return. One of the students said that help was provided to them from booking their air ticket and safety in Manipur. 

Concerned at the safety of the students of the State currently studying in Manipur, the CM Dhami had directed the department of civil aviation to bring them home safely.  After the order of the CM, the department sprang up into action and made arrangements for their return. All the students of Uttarakhand staying in Manipur were contacted with the help of Police and after setting up the contact the State government held special talks with the officials of Indigo airlines and the tickets of these students were booked by the State government.
