The leader of opposition (LoP) in Uttarakhand assembly Yashpal Arya has said that instead of appreciating the Berojgar Sangh for exposing the cases of cheating and paper leaks, the Uttarakhand government is using force on the unemployed and sending them to jail. Responding to the statement of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that the opposition was using the Berojgar Sangh, Arya said that it is actually the CM who is patting his own back over the belated actions taken by the government on the credible information provided by the unemployed.

He said that in the last six years the BJP governments in Uttarakhand have failed to discharge their duties in the cases of cheating and paper leaks.

Accusing the government of sitting over the report of Ranvir Singh committee constituted to investigate the cases of cheating in the VDO examination, Arya said that the state would have become free from the scourge of copying and paper leaks had the government taken stern action on the culprits in the year 2017-18. He said that the then CM had assured to table the report of Ranvir Singh committee but it has not been done till today.

The LoP claimed that all the cases of paper leaks have been exposed by the unemployed themselves and not by the Police or any other agency of the government. He said that all the mafias associated with the paper leaks are connected with the ruling BJP. Arya said the unemployed are justified in their demand of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into cases of paper leaks. He pointed out that in the last eight months of disclosure of the involvement of the cheating mafia in the recruitment examinations a session of the Vidhan Sabha was also held and if the government desired it would have brought a bill and the anti-copying law would have been brought out after detailed discussions. He said that the government was forced to bring an ordinance after the large scale protest of students. The LoP added that registration of cases on two youngsters of Uttarkashi under the new law shows that it would be used more to suppress the voice of the youth than on the copying mafia.

Arya said that the Congress party is standing with the unemployed and would raise their voice both inside the assembly and outside it.
