Kejriwal offers Rs one crore for families of each martyr in U’khand

Monday, 03 January 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

The national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has promised Samman Rashi of Rs one crore to the families of each martyr of the army, police and paramilitary force of the state if the party wins Uttarakhand assembly elections. The party chief has also promised to provide reservation in government jobs to retired army personnel who retire at the age of 34-35 years. Kejriwal said this while addressing the public in Dehradun here on Monday. He arrived on his one-day visit and directly headed to Bijapur Guest House from Dehradun airport to hold a meeting with the senior leaders of the party. He arrived at Parade Ground around 3 PM to address a public gathering. Addressing the public, Kejriwal said that AAP leader Ajay Kothiyal informed him that most of the recruitments in the Indian army are from Uttarakhand but what the government provides to the families after the soldiers are martyred on duty is not adequate. “When AAP first formed the government in Delhi, I got to know that the government gives one sewing machine to the widow of the martyr of police personnel. Is this the value of their sacrifice? We made a scheme under which the government promised Rs one crore to the families of each martyr of the police, army and paramilitary.

We will also launch the same scheme here to honour their martyrdom if our party forms the government here,” stated Kejriwal. He said that an army man joins the army at the age of 18-19 years old and work for at least 17-18 years but when he returns home, he faces challenges in getting a job. He said, “If AAP forms the government, such ex-servicemen will be given reservation in the government jobs. Their skills, training and patriotism will be utilised by the government and they will become partners in building new Uttarakhand.” He said that the state has the largest representation in the armed forces and if they make up their mind, no one can stop AAP from winning the elections.

The Delhi CM also lashed out at Congress and BJP and accused them of deliberately keeping people illiterate since independence to allegedly use them as vote banks. He stated, “We improved the condition of government schools in Delhi in five years. Why they did not do it in past seven decades? All they want is to use people as vote banks rather than working for their welfare. When I announced to provide free electricity here, they mocked me and abused me. When the CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and other MLAs can get about 4,000 to 5,000 units of free electricity every month, why each family in the state cannot get 300 units free?”  He added, “After I promised 300 units of free electricity, many leaders started making the same promise ahead of the assembly elections but only I can make it possible when the public will actually get Rs zero as electricity bill.”

Kejriwal said that people here have trusted and voted for BJP and Congress in the past 20 years and they should give a chance to AAP this time.
