Officials must work with sense of service: Maharaj

The State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj unveiled the foundation stones of various works totaling in cost to crores of rupees at a function in Tilwada, Rudraprayag on Saturday.

Addressing the officials and party workers on the occasion, the minister said that government officials should work with a sense of serving the public. Stating that party workers stive in the interest of the public, he said that their problems should be redressed on priority basis. He stressed that complaints should not be received from the workers about officials not listening to their problems, adding that apathy towards the workers will not be tolerated.

Referring to the work of the state government he said that concrete shape was being accorded to various employment generating schemes in spheres including tourism, pilgrimage like home stay scheme, adventure sports, encouraging local products and traditional Garhwali dishes among others. Responding to a complaint about pipes of Lastar Bayan canal laying at Bangar, the minister spoke of timely action, while adding that work would also be done on pending flood protection works, irrigation canals and renovation of tourist spots.

The works for which the foundation was unveiled by the minister included flood protection scheme costing rs 198.87 lakh near Agastyamuni PG college, treatment of Mansua Gadera costing Rs 19.72 lakh, protection work at Kalimath temple costing Rs 19.50 lakh, protection work at Mahesh temple in Jakholi costing Rs 105 lakh, lift pump at Jakholi costing Rs 82.31 lakh and Agastyamuni lift pump costing Rs 221.57 lakh.

Local MLA Bharat Singh Chowdhary and other public representatives and officials were also present on the occasion.
