Traffic now allowed on mountain roads from 4 AM to 10 PM

For the convenience of the Char Dham pilgrims, the State government has decided to allow the movement of vehicles on mountain roads from 4 AM to 10 PM. Earlier, vehicular traffic was allowed on mountain roads from 5 AM to 8 PM.  With this decision of the State government, vehicles ferrying pilgrims will have additional three hours in a day to ply on the routes. The State’s Transport commissioner Ranveer Singh Chauhan informed that the Yatra checkposts have started operating on the pilgrimage routes. A large number of pilgrims is expected to arrive for the Char Dham Yatra this year. He said that so that the pilgrims do not face any inconvenience due to the improvements and developments on the Yatra routes, the State administration has decided to allow the movement of vehicles on mountain roads from 4 AM to 10 PM. The Transport commissioner has also directed the departmental officials to ensure that the pilgrims and other travelers do not face any inconvenience. 

According to sources, complaints were received in the past about travelers facing inconvenience when they had to stop midway when the permitted time for traffic ended. The police, transport and other agencies also used to face inconvenience in halting the travelers midway.
