7,630 cases settled in National Lok Adalat in U’khand

A total of 7,630 cases were settled in the recent National Lok Adalat organised in various courts of Uttarakhand.

The member secretary of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), RK Khulbe said that National Lok Adalat was organised in 13 districts of the state in the district courts, family courts, labour courts and consumer courts among others to amicably settle the cases pending in courts or are at the pre-litigation stage. He informed that a total of 15,351 cases were referred in Lok Adalat and the courts were working till the late night on Saturday to resolve the referred cases across the state. He informed that two benches of Justice RC Khulbe and Ravindra Maithani were constituted at the state level for the redressal of the cases during Lok Adalat.

According to him, 1,305 cases were settled in Dehradun, 1,277 in Haridwar, 1,150 in Udham Singh Nagar, 329 in Pauri Garhwal, 196 in Pithoragarh, 194 in Tehri, 160 in Chamoli, 150 in Uttarkashi, 81 in Almora, 62 in Bageshwar, 51 in Rudraprayag and Nainital, and 45 in Champawat. Khulbe informed that a total of 15,351 cases were referred to courts across the state out of which 7,630 were settled and an amount of Rs 97,88,54,657 was the settlement amount.
