CEO holds meeting with DMs and police heads after MCC implementation

The chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam on Sunday held a meeting with district magistrates and senior/superintendents of police of all the districts in the secretariat regarding the ensuing Lok Sabha elections after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) on Saturday evening. Most of the DMs, SSPs and SPs joined the meeting virtually.  He reviewed the arrangements made by the authorities concerned so far. The officials concerned informed the CEO that the authorities have seized cash, illegal liquor and drugs worth over Rs seven crore from March 1 to 16. The quantity of drugs is the highest among the seized items so far.

The additional director general of police (Law and Order) AP Anshuman also informed that the police have prepared a force deployment plan for all districts regarding the elections. He said that respective SSPs and SPs have also been asked to make arrangements to ensure a smooth communication system among police force and authorities concerned in the vulnerable areas of remote areas. He also informed that the police will soon start monitoring process through drones in remote and difficult to access areas across the State.

Purushottam also gave detailed guidelines to DMs and police officials for conducting safe voting in their respective districts. He said that voting will be held in the first phase in the State and the administration should conduct awareness programs at a big level in each booth to reach the maximum number of citizens. The CEO also asked the police to increase monitoring at each check posts, especially in those districts that are adjacent to interstate and international borders. 

He also directed all agencies in the Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) to responsibly fill seizure and intercept reports to avoid errors. The static surveillance teams in all the districts should also take the information received through various mediums seriously and act on them immediately as per the rules, he added.
