Centre allocates parking space in enemy property Metropole in Nainital

In what is expected to be a big step towards  easing the longstanding parking woe plaguing the bustling tourist town  Nainital, the Union Home Ministry has accepted the Uttarakhand government’s request to allot a piece of land belonging to Metropole Hotel designated as enemy property for setting up a parking space. 

According to the State government officials, the MHA has temporarily allocated a space within the Metropole Hotel complex to the State government for parking purposes, pending further orders. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is said to have communicated this decision himself to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a letter.  Officials stated that Dhami had earlier requested Shah to temporarily hand the open space of the Metropole Hotel complex for parking, citing the persistent parking issues in Nainital.

Responding gratefully to Shah’s move, Dhami said that it would greatly help the administration in addressing the worsening parking challenges in Nainital.
