In latest news from Uttarakhand, several members of the Pauri Zila Panchayat tonsured their heads outside the Zila Panchayat office in protest against what they alleged embezzlement of funds meant for rural development by those holding positions of power and the State government’s indifference to such corrupt activities. Notably, they staged a stir on their six-point charter of demands.
They expressed their dismay over the quarterly meeting of the Zila Panchayat being held up for the past two years. They further said that due to such meetings not being held, development works have remained stalled. They warned that if the administration fails to address their six-point demands they would be compelled to go for a bigger and aggressive movement. In coming days.
