MCD to start online dog registrations from April

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is planning to begin the online registration of dog licenses from April. This financial year, the corporation has issued more than 4,000 dog licenses which is the highest number of such licenses issued by MCD. Though the number of registrations has decreased since the middle of February as the current financial year will end soon, the corporation witnessed over 100 people for license registration in the MCD premises before February.

Many locals even expressed their concern to the officials over insufficient physical distancing among the people arriving to register for dog licenses. Considering this, the senior veterinary officer, Dr DC Tiwari said that the corporation is planning to start an online registration system for dog licenses the next month. He disclosed that many local residents have become aware of the dog license registration in the last six months which increased the number of people arriving in MCD for this purpose. In order to make the registration process easier for locals, especially for the senior citizens, the corporation is working on developing a site for online registration, said Tiwari. According to him, the corporation would make sure that the online registration system becomes available from April. Meanwhile, the MCD collected revenue of more than Rs eight lakh this year despite the lockdown and Covid-19 pandemic. Tiwari said that the corporation will run awareness campaigns across the city within a few months which would also increase the revenue collection of MCD besides raising awareness among locals.
