Minister Ganesh Joshi approves 24 new rural roads

The rural development minister Ganesh Joshi gave approval for construction of  24 new rural roads under the ‘ Mera Gaon Meri Sadak’ scheme on Wednesday. He said that 37 rural roads were sanctioned in the current financial year in the past and a total of 61 roads have been approved this year. He informed that last year 49 roads were sanctioned and work on them has started. The minister said that the State government under the leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is committed for all round development of rural areas and is endeavouring to connect the villages uncovered by the Public Works Department (PWD) and Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana with roads. Under the Mera Gaon Meri Sadak scheme, an all weather road is constructed to connect a village within one km distance of the main road. The minister said that these roads will provide all weather connectivity to the villages and help the villagers to carry their produce to the market. These roads will increase the income of the farmers and create direct and indirect employment opportunities.
