With Deepawali festival approaching, the demand for eco-friendly crackers in the city markets is increasing significantly. The retailers selling crackers said that people are now embracing environment- friendly, less polluting practices during the festivals. “This year, there is a notable demand surge for eco-friendly crackers. The people who prioritise environmental conservation and safety of the children are coming forward, pushing up the demand and sale of the green crackers. We are happy with the trend and hope that this switch from traditional firecrackers to eco- friendly green crackers will further gain momentum in time to come,” said a cracker retailer.

With the markets being abundantly flooded with eco-friendly crackers this Deepawali, a shop owner who sells crackers, Sangham Mishra, said that they have been noting a higher demand for eco-friendly crackers as compared to the conventional ones this year. “More satisfyingly, the demand for sound-free crackers is showing an upward swing. Even the fact that such crackers are more expensive than the conventional crackers is not deterring people from buying less polluting crackers. This signals the rising graph of environmental and safety awareness among the common people. We hope that we will sell more green crackers this festive season than the conventional ones as compared to the past years,” he said.

While speaking on the new trend, another cracker seller Goldie Kumar said that as time progresses, new types of crackers enter the market, captivating the consumers. “As per our projection for this Deepawali, the people will gravitate more towards eco-friendly and sound-free crackers than the traditional ones. We are discerning a craze among the parents of children to go for the eco-friendly and sound free crackers, oblivious of their higher prices.   It is clear that they are putting a premium on the health of their children as well as the conservation of the environment,” he added.

A customer Dheeraj Bohra said that the people burst crackers during Deepawali which produce deafening noise. “Hence, this time I am looking for less polluting, sound-free crackers for my children. Deepawali celebration is special and it is incomplete without crackers. We will celebrate this festival with the environment-friendly, sound free crackers with our children this time,” he said.
