Police arrest hostel warden for alleged assault and sexual abuse of children with disabilities in Dehradun

Police arrested hostel warden Monupal (29) for allegedly assaulting and sexually abusing two children with disabilities at a school hostel in Patelnagar area of Dehradun. The accused, Monupal, was taken into custody on Saturday, following a complaint filed by the children’s guardian at Patelnagar Kotwali. He was was presented before the court on Sunday, the superintendent of police (City) Pramod Kumar said.

He said that according to the complaint, the children are students at a school located in Banjarawala in Patelnagar area and were subjected to repeated assault and sexual abuse by the hostel warden. Kumar said that based on the report, police registered a case under FIR number 256/2025 under sections 115(2)/64(2)(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 5(D)(k)/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The SP said that the police conducted immediate medical examinations of the minors and informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Police also arranged for interpreters to communicate with the children due to their disabilities. They also seized CCTV footage and the DVR from the school and examined them during the investigation. He said that after collecting relevant evidence, police arrested Monupal, a resident of Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh.
