The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that Congress leader and former chief minister Harish Rawat’s claim of being certain to win the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections without a team is completely baseless. The party said that Rawat, who led Congress in the 2017 and 2022 elections, failed to deliver and was ‘out on zero’ in both the contests.
The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that Rawat’s leadership has already been tested and rejected by the people. He claimed that even within Congress, questions are now being raised about Rawat’s strategy. He said that under Rawat’s leadership, Congress suffered major defeats and now Rawat himself is calling his presence in the electoral field a mistake.
According to Chauhan, neither Rawat nor his team have shown any significant presence in recent political battles. He also referred to Rawat’s recent visits to various pilgrimage sites across the State, saying the former CM is seeking public forgiveness but is still avoiding a direct mandate. He claimed that Rawat knows that the people have not yet accepted him back. According to Chauhan, Congress lacks a proper structure as no matter who is named as the Congress head, Rawat continues to act as the party’s super boss.
