Sandhu directs officials to expedite works in Nainital

Chief secretary SS Sandhu inspected the Thandi Sadak which was damaged due to disaster in Nainital on Sunday. He left for Dehradun in the evening after completing his three-day tour of Nainital. Inspecting the damaged route, the chief secretary issued necessary instructions to the officials.  He directed the officials to prepare a proposal for the treatment of Baliyanala Thandi Sadak. Construction work should be undertaken while keeping the natural beauty in mind, he said. Sandhu said that cracks and landslides are often experienced in mountain States. In such situations, the State administration sends a team and experts before commencing necessary work. The funds required for such woks are also approved soon, he added.

Regarding the consistently rising traffic congestion in Nainital, he said that Kathgodam-Hanumangarh ropeway will be ready within three years which will help in considerably resolving traffic congestion here. A proposal for the ropeway from Kathgodam to Bhimtal-Naukuchiyatal is also being processed. The completion of this project will resolve traffic congestion on the Bhimtal route, he added.

Regarding the shifting of Uttarakhand High Court to Haldwani, he said that the process is being expedited and that a proposal is being sent to the Central government in this regard. Nainital district magistrate Dhiraaj Garbyal and others were also present on the occasion.
