SEC sets the ball rolling for key Panchayat posts in Haridwar

With the notification of the State Election Commission (SEC), the process of the election of president, vice president, block Pramukhs and other posts in Haridwar started on Friday. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) would remain enforced in Haridwar till the end of the process of voting. The State election commissioner Chandra Shekar Bhatt issued separate notifications for the election of block level posts and the president and vice president of the district Panchayats on the day.

The aspirants for the posts of the president and vice president of district Panchayats can submit their nomination papers on Monday October 10 from 11 AM to 3 PM. The nomination papers would get scrutinised from 3:30 PM to the end of the day. The nomination papers can be withdrawn on Tuesday, October 11 from 11 AM to 3 PM. The voting would be held on Friday October 14 from 10 AM to 3 PM and the counting of the votes would start immediately after the end of the voting on the day. All the elected district Panchayat members would be eligible to cast their votes for the posts of the president and vice president of the district Panchayat of Hardiwar.  

In a separate notification, the CEC also set into motion the process of elections on the posts of block Pramukhs, senior deputy block Pramukhs and the junior deputy block Pramukhs. The aspirants for these posts can submit their nomination papers on October 10 and the date of withdrawal of papers is October 11. The voting would be held from 10 AM to 3 PM on October 13 and the counting of the votes would be held on the same day after the end of voting. The elected members of the block Panchayats would participate in the voting for the posts of the block Pramukhs, senior deputy Pramukhs and junior deputy Pramukhs.
