Hot Sunday in store for Doon

As forecast earlier, the maximum temperatures in parts of the State are expected to rise considerably today. The State meteorological centre has forecast that the maximum temperature in Dehradun will reach 36 degrees Celsius today. The provisional state capital is forecast to experience mainly clear sky with the minimum temperature forecast to be about 17 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the districts of the State today.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Saturday were 33.4 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.6 degrees Celsius and 12.8 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.6 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.6 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.

It will be recalled that the State meteorological centre had informed on Thursday that due to dry weather conditions, the temperatures are likely to increase by three to four degrees Celsius after 48 hours with maximum temperatures reaching seven to nine degrees Celsius above normal and the minimum temperatures reaching five to six degrees Celsius above normal at many places over Uttarakhand. The maximum temperatures are likely to reach 37-38 degrees Celsius in the plains and and 26-28 degrees Celsius in the mountainous regions (2,000 metres) after March 27 with no large change in maximum temperature thereafter till April 2. Due to these temperature conditions, the maximum temperatures are very likely to cross the past highest maximum temperature records at a few places in the plains of Uttarakhand.
