The Dehradun police on Sunday arrested two men for placing a cot in the middle of the road at Saint Jude School Chowk on Shimla Bypass Road obstructing traffic besides putting their own and others’ lives at risk to make reels for social media. A video was making rounds on social media in which a man can be seen putting a cot in the middle of the road at Saint Jude School Chowk obstructing the traffic as well as putting lives of commuters at risk. Another man was reportedly making the video while standing far from the cot. Several people have been expressing their anger towards these men’s disregard for traffic rules and the authorities on various social media platforms as well. Taking cognisance of the issue, the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh issued an order to the Patelnagar police station in-charge to take action against the offenders. The police registered a case against accused under sections 283 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested both accused identified as Gaurav Kashyap and Abdul Shami who live in the Patelnagar area. The SSP said that it is not acceptable to violate rules to get recognition on social media and strict action will be taken against all such offenders.
