Authorities find body of Gujarati woman in Rishikesh

Authorities recovered the body of a Gujarati woman who had drowned in Ganga in Rishikesh on Tuesday. The search and rescue teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were looking for the body for the past three days.

The officials informed that a woman identified as Neelu Thakkar had arrived in the Lakshmanjhula area along with her family on August 1. According to her family members, the victim was bathing in the Ganga when the water level suddenly rose in the river and her body was swept away, as per the officials. They said that a team of SDRF was called to the spot to carry out the rescue operation that searched for the woman in all possible locations for hours but could not find her.

The teams resumed the search on Wednesday but to no avail. They finally found her body from the Pashulok Barrage in Rishikesh in the afternoon, as per the officials. They said that the body was handed over to the local police that sent it for post-mortem and necessary procedures. The police also informed the family members about the body, added the officials.
