HNB Garhwal university product of Bahuguna’s progressive thinking: CM

A programme to celebrate 50 years of the setting up of HNB Garhwal Central University was organised on Friday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the golden jubilee programme of the university in the virtual mode.  Remembering Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, the CM said that the university is the product of his progressive thinking. He said that the university has been fulfilling its responsibilities from the last 50 years and due to this it was elevated as the central university in the year 2009. The CM said that the university is touching new horizons in education and research. The teachers of the university are making people aware of agriculture, millet production, environment, culture and dialects. Praising the university’s feat of operating a research extension centre at an altitude of 13,000 feet in Tungnath, the CM said that research on aromatic plants and rare herbs found only in high Himalayan ranges is done in the centre.

 He said that the university has also set up an archaeological museum to preserve, collect and demonstrate the heritage of the area which is an appreciable effort. Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the entire world is getting acquainted with our power and knowledge. The Uttarakhand government is working to fulfil the dream of PM Modi and construction of a science city in Dehradun, country’s first astro park in Haldwani and science centre in Almora are examples of this commitment.

 The Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari, vice chancellor of the university Annpurna Nautiyal, director GB Pant national Himalayan environment institute Sunil Nautiyal, VC of North East Central university Prabha Shankar Shukla and others were present on the occasion.
