ASHA workers to protest outside secretariat

Tuesday, 21 September 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The ASHA workers will protest outside the Secretariat today as they accuse the state government of not issuing a government order (GO) regarding their demands despite the alleged promise of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami last month. The state head of Uttarakhand ASHA health workers union Shiva Dubey said that she and other ASHA workers have been protesting for the past 50 days in their respective blocks across the state for their demands like increasing their allowances and issue pensions to old workers. She said that the CM had agreed to their demands and asked them to give the government 20 days to issue a GO but no orders have been issued till now. “We will not stop protesting unless the government issues a GO. We have been protesting peacefully for about two months and we will do the same outside the Secretariat where probably the government will notice us,” stated Dubey. She said that initially, the ASHA workers of Dehradun will participate in the protest on Tuesday but after that, they will intensify their protest if the government continues to avoid them.
