Winter sets in Nainital, tourist footfall declines

Thursday, 25 November 2021 | PNS | Nainital

With the cold gripping tourist town Nainital from the past few days, the number of tourists has started declining on weekdays. The tourists can be seen on weekends enjoying the lake city but there is a considerable decline in footfall now. In recent days, layers of frost can be observed following the clouds covering the mountains in the evenings which have also caused a dip in the temperature. Many tourists arriving in the city can be seen shopping for warm clothes to keep themselves warm and toasty in the chilling weather. Though Nagar Palika usually starts burning bonfires near the main areas of the city like Mallital market, Tallital market, Tibetan Market, Gandhi Chowk from the second week of December to provide respite to people, locals and tourists are already feeling its need due to the biting cold in Nainital at early mornings and late nights.
