The speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Premchand Agarwal has said that the life of Baba Sahab B R Ambedkar is a source of inspiration to the society. Dr Ambedkar worked to strengthen the downtrodden in the society.
He was addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the Mahaparinirwan Diwas of Dr B R Ambedkar at Jatav Basti in Rishikesh on Sunday. He said that Ambedkar drafted the constitution of India and helped in uniting the nation. Agarwal added that it is not proper to associate Ambedkar with any particular caste or religion.
The speaker garlanded the portrait of Ambedkar and made an announcement to construct a community hall in the Basti at a cost of Rs four lakh.
The president of the BJP Scheduled Castes Cell Amba Dutt Arya and others were present on the occasion.
