Meteorological centre issues orange alert for five districts

The provisional State capital Dehradun witnessed a generally cloudy sky and a few spells of light drizzling on Sunday. The maximum temperature in Dehradun is likely to drop by a few notches today. Some parts of the State received light to moderate rain. Though there were no reports of inclement weather in the State on Sunday, the State meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, and squall (wind speed 60-70 kmph gusting up to 80 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Pauri and Nainital districts on Monday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, intense showers and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State today. The meteorological centre has also issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Pauri, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts on Monday. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are most likely to occur at many places in the State today.

Dehradun is likely to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms accompanied with squall (wind speed 60-70 kmph gusting up to 80kmph) are likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 36.2 degrees Celsius and 26.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38.4 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.9 degrees Celsius and 13.3 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.7 degrees Celsius and 15.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in some parts of the State with 46.5 millimetres in Bhimtal and 21 millimetres in Chalthi on Sunday.
