Adventure tourism not possible sans BSF’s support- Maharaj

The State’s Tourism department has always received the support of the Border Security Force (BSF) for conducting tourism activities. Adventure tourism is not possible without the support of BSF, said the State’s Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj. He was speaking at the daredevil show of the BSF’s Janbaz motorcycle team held as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Maharaj appreciated the show presented by the BSF’s motorcyclists under the guidance of the BSF Institute of Adventure and Advance Training, Dehradun. The skills displayed by the riders to the music played by the BSF band was a live example of the courage and skills of these guardians of the borders, he said. The appreciable coordination and discipline displayed during the show is maintained by these soldiers while guarding and securing the borders of the nation. Maharaj said that the BSF has a glorious history, whether it be its work on the international borders or in anti-naxal operations for internal security. While at the LOC or in adventure sports, the BSF continues to exhibit considerable courage in difficult circumstances, said the minister. Maharaj also thanked BSF commandant Mahesh Kumar Negi and other personnel for the show. He also presented Rs 21,000 to the BSF band for its performance and felicitated Amisha Chauhan, the first differently abled woman to climb Mount Everest.

Dehradun mayor, Sunil Uniyal, Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das, Doiwala MLA Brijbhushan Gairola and former cabinet minister Amrita Rawat were also among those present on the occasion.
