Omicron threat to children- Health dept interacts with pediatricians

In view of the increasing threat of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 and the fear that it could trigger the third wave of the pandemic particularly in the children, the state health department has started interaction with the pediatricians. On Wednesday the director general (DG) of state health services Dr Tripti Bahuguna held a meeting with the officials of the Indian Association of Pediatricians (IAP). In the meeting discussion was held on the ways of preventing the probable third wave and measures to be taken to protect the children.

The DG took suggestions from the child specialists on formulating a strategy to protect the children during the third wave.

Dr Bahuguna said that RTPCR test of all the family members should be done where there are many cases of cold and cough in one family. She said that the people should be asked to follow Covid appropriate behavior and they should not visit crowded places. Special care of the children should be done.
