PWD secretary reviews ongoing works along Gangotri, Yamunotri routes

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the secretary, State Public Works Department, Pankaj Kumar Pandey inspected and reviewed the ongoing construction and security-related works along the Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham Yatra routes. Later, addressing a media conference,
Pandey said that nearly all the important works related to security on the Gangotri route had been completed and the remainder of the works would be completed very soon. Besides, resurfacing and patchworks on the route are being done by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), he added
Queried about Gangotri National Highway widening, he said that this work is proposed in five phases out of which forest clearance of three phases is in the final stage. “As soon as the approval is received, the work will be started,” he stated.
Pandey inspected the Yamunotri Dham routes and reviewed the ongoing works. Regarding the proposed widening work from Paligad to Janakichatti, he said that this work would start soon.
On Silkyara tunnel where breakthrough had been achieved recently, he said that it is expected to be opened for traffic by 2026.
