AAP questions rescue operations, seeks safety of the missing

The Aam Adami Party (AAP) leader Ravindra Jugran has expressed deep concern about delay in the rescue operations in Chamoli disaster. In a statement he said that even after six days of the disaster, 166 people are still missing and the biggest concern is the safety of the 30-35 labourers who are said to be trapped inside a tunnel. Jugran said that the place inside the tunnel where the labourers are trapped is deficient in oxygen and the workers engaged to rescue them have not succeeded in removing the debris and reaching up to them.

The AAP leader also questioned the officers of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) who initially informed about a tunnel where the labourers were trapped and when the rescue team started its operation it was realised that no work was going on this tunnel. Jugran said that the rescue operations are being hindered by breaking down of the machines involved in rescue. He said that the biggest concern is about the relatives of the missing who from the last six days are running from pillar to post in the hope of safety of their near and dear ones but the way the rescue work is going on, they are disappointed as with each passing day their hopes are getting dimmer.
