AAP launches campaign to woo women voters

Wednesday, 22 December 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched the ‘Empowered Woman Prosperous Uttarakhand’ campaign to woo the women voters ahead of the state assembly elections. In his recent visit to the state, the party’s national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had promised to transfer Rs 1,000 every month to the bank account of every woman if the party wins the elections next year. Addressing mediapersons in the party’s state office in Dehradun, the media co-incharge of the party, Uma Sisodia informed that AAP has launched ‘Empowered Woman Prosperous Uttarakhand’ campaign to make the women aware of Kejriwal’s fourth guarantee of providing Rs 1,000 to every woman aged above 18 years irrespective of the number of women in the family after winning the elections.

The party will start the process of registering women across the state from December 24 which will go on for the next 10 days. She said, “We will conduct 350 public meetings for the next 10 days from Friday to interact with women across the state and will inform them about Kejriwal’s fourth guarantee. We will also start the registration process of women for the monthly aid of Rs 1,000 who will get its benefit after AAP’s victory next year. The party workers will also inform them about AAP’s plans for women welfare.” Sisodia stated that three prominent women leaders of AAP, Geeta Rawat, Atishi and Vandana Kumari will also arrive on December 24 to commence their tours to Garhwal and Kumaon regions to interact with women under the campaign. “Women from remote and mountainous areas are still deprived of basic facilities like education, employment and medical facilities due to the apathetic attitude of the governments in the past 21 years. The AAP is already getting the support of several women after Kejriwal’s announcement. We will give women similar modern facilities as we did in Delhi after winning the elections,” added Sisodia.
