Maharaj directs officials to check possibility of funicular rail where ropeways are not possible
A total of 46 ropeway projects will be developed under the Parvatmala programme in various districts of the State. Further, the Tehri Special Tourism Area Authority has selected an organisation for floating house construction. This organisation has been granted permission to construct one house boat. The Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said this after chairing a review meeting of the Tourism department here on Friday.
During the meeting held at Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), the minister also sought information about 13 development works and also directed the officials to expedite the same. Considering the importance of ropeways in the mountain State like Uttarakhand, to check for the possibility of funicular rail in places where construction of ropeway projects is not possible. The minister said that a master plan is being prepared for Auli in order to encourage winter tourism. He directed officials to hold meeting with the Gram Panchayat representatives and Teerth Purohits regarding the development of Trijugi Narayan as a wedding destination. Maharaj also told officials to work towards simplification of regulations to resolve problems being faced while registering under the Tourism department’s homestay scheme.
