With the authorities focusing their efforts on attempting to maintain order in Haridwar in view of the Kanwad Yatra, traffic congestion in Dehradun has escalated once again.
The situation is especially worse on some roads during the afternoon when schools end for the day and a considerably higher number of vehicles parked improperly on main roads and driven in violation of traffic rules exacerbate the already congested scenario on city roads.
As seen on other days, police and traffic police personnel were seen struggling to manage the situation despite their efforts on various main roads of the provisional State capital. One such road, the East Canal Road witnessed major congestion during the afternoon especially due to only a couple of schools on a short stretch of the road. As a result, it took most vehicles considerably longer to cover just a few hundred metres.
